Contest Rules

Be That Woman. And recognize the person who was that woman for you.

If she inspired you, she’ll surely inspire others as well. That’s why the most inspirational story submitted here will win the Be That Woman Award, and receive additional exposure at our annual fundraising luncheon in October, and through our partnerships with DC area media. So if you are inspired by someone’s nomination, be sure to click the “Comments” icon and start posting your comments today.

Contest Details:

  1. Entry Dates: May 9 – August 20, 2010
  2. Eligibility: Residents of the DC-Metro area preferred.
  3. Submission guidelines: Entries are limited to one per person; and may include video, photos, text, or audio uploaded to bethatwoman.org
  4. Submission must address: Who is That Woman to you and why?
  5. Only one woman can be nominated per video submission.
  6. Submitters are encouraged to make one or all of the following statements:

    • “My name is (insert name), and I am That woman.”
    • “Be That Woman.”
    • “(Insert Name) is That Woman to me.”
  7. Videos are encouraged to be under three minutes.
  8. Video submissions must comply with the following rules:

    • Content cannot be obscene or offensive, or endorse any form of hate or hate group.
    • Content cannot defame, misrepresent or contain disparaging remarks about any person or entity.
  9. Content must be original and cannot infringe on the intellectual property rights of a third party.
  10. Content cannot be an advertisement or promotion for a product or person. It will be the sole discretion of the contest organizers to determine whether a submission falls into this category.
  11. Content cannot communicate messages inconsistent with the messages, policies, and/or goodwill with which the contest organizers wish to associate, as determined by the sole discretion of the contest organizers.
  12. Content must comply with local and federal law.
  13. Contest organizers reserve the right to disqualify any submission for any reason.
  14. The most inspiring stories will be evaluated by the number of “positive comments” that each submission receives. Winning entries will be submitted to the Washington Area Women’s Foundation’s communication’s committee for a final vote, and the most inspiring story will be selected to win the Be That Woman Award.
